Durango EV charging stops
Last updated October 24, 2026
Durango is a destination, and the catalog reads that way. You do not get a
charger every thirty miles the way you do on I-25. You get a Supercharger
on 8th Street, near the downtown you came for, a Rivian site on Turner
Drive on the north side, and hotel plugs for people who are staying. The
useful plan is to arrive with enough energy to reach the stop you chose,
then charge while you eat or while you sleep. It is a bad place to discover,
at dusk, that you wanted a travel-center row and the town does not have one.
Southwest Colorado in winter adds the usual problems: a cold battery, and
mountain roads between here and the Front Range that are not this page.
If Durango is the end of the day, treat the charger as part of the hotel
or the dinner, not as a 15-minute insert between other plans.
How to read this list
Names, addresses, networks, and charging-position counts come from the
EVEats catalog, checked on October 24, 2026. The catalog is built from the
U.S. Department of Energy Alternative Fuels Data Center. A charging
position is the sum of Level 1, Level 2, and DC fast ports reported for
that site, so the number alone does not tell you the plug is fast.
Read the station name. Supercharger means Tesla DC fast
charging. Tesla Destination means Level 2, the kind of
plug you use for a long meal or an overnight stay. Electrify America sites
in these guides are that network's DC fast stations. The catalog does not
show live availability, kilowatts, price, or whether your car can connect
without an adapter. Check the network's own app before you leave the
highway. Store and restaurant hours change, and a restroom inside a
business is only available while that business is open.
As of October 24, 2026, these stops had no approved driver note in EVEats
unless a note is quoted on the page. A specific note about food or a
restroom is more useful to the next driver than another copy of the address.
Stops
8th Street Supercharger
Tesla · 8 charging positions · 250 W 8th St, Durango, CO 81301
Eight Supercharger positions at 250 West 8th Street. That address is in the downtown grid, which is the point: restaurants and restrooms are the businesses of central Durango, a walk from the stalls rather than a food court wrapped around them. Eight positions is a modest row for a town that funnels a lot of weekend traffic. Charge, walk to dinner if the kitchens are open, and do not leave the car sitting after you have the miles you need. There is not a second Supercharger across town to absorb the overflow. The north-side alternative is the Rivian site, and only if your car can use it.

Turner Drive
Rivian · 8 charging positions · 40 Turner Drive, Durango, CO 81303
Eight Rivian positions at 40 Turner Drive. This is not the downtown stall. It is the north-side pin, and the catalog name does not say grocery, mall, or restaurant. Confirm in the Rivian app that the posts are DC fast, then look at the businesses on Turner Drive before you promise food. If you wanted the restaurants, the 8th Street Supercharger is the one that puts you in walking distance of them. If you wanted a fast session and downtown is full, Turner Drive is the other site to check, not a ring of additional Superchargers.

DoubleTree on Camino del Rio
Tesla Destination · 4 charging positions · 501 Camino Del Rio, Durango, CO 81301
Four Tesla Destination positions at the DoubleTree, along the river road. Destination means Level 2. This is the overnight plug for a guest, with the hotel's own restrooms and breakfast, not a public fast charger for someone passing through to Mesa Verde in the morning. Use it if you are staying. Leave it for guests if you are not, and use 8th Street or Turner Drive for the session that has to be fast. Smaller hotel ChargePoint posts, including the SpringHill records on Mercury Village Drive, are the same category: one or two positions, lodging, not a plan.

How to arrive
The drives into Durango, from the north via US-550 or from the east via
US-160, are the part to charge for before you are in town. This catalog
slice does not show a dense public fast-charge grid in the last hour of
those roads. Top up in a city that has one, while you can still choose a
store that is open, and roll into Durango ready to park at 8th Street for
dinner or at the hotel for the night. A two-position hotel plug is not the
rescue if you arrive at 5 percent.
