Grand Junction EV charging and food
Last updated October 24, 2026
Grand Junction is the western end of the I-70 charging day, and it is the
first place since Glenwood Springs where you can choose among a mall, a
warehouse club, and a travel center instead of taking whatever stall the
canyon gave you. The choice matters at night. The mall is the meal when it
is open. The Pilot is the meal when it is not. The Patterson Road
Supercharger is the larger fast site on the north side, and the catalog
does not promise a food court there.
If you are arriving from the east with a thin margin, do not skip Rifle or
Parachute on the theory that Grand Junction will sort it out. Those stops
are in the
I-70 guide.
This page is for when you are in the city, or close enough that the city
is the stop.
How to read this list
Names, addresses, networks, and charging-position counts come from the
EVEats catalog, checked on October 24, 2026. The catalog is built from the
U.S. Department of Energy Alternative Fuels Data Center. A charging
position is the sum of Level 1, Level 2, and DC fast ports reported for
that site, so the number alone does not tell you the plug is fast.
Read the station name. Supercharger means Tesla DC fast
charging. Tesla Destination means Level 2, the kind of
plug you use for a long meal or an overnight stay. Electrify America sites
in these guides are that network's DC fast stations. The catalog does not
show live availability, kilowatts, price, or whether your car can connect
without an adapter. Check the network's own app before you leave the
highway. Store and restaurant hours change, and a restroom inside a
business is only available while that business is open.
As of October 24, 2026, these stops had no approved driver note in EVEats
unless a note is quoted on the page. A specific note about food or a
restroom is more useful to the next driver than another copy of the address.
Stops
Mesa Mall on U.S. 6
Tesla · 6 charging positions · 2424 U.S. 6, Grand Junction, CO 81505
The Supercharger address is the Mesa Mall address. A Rivian listing at the same highway address has 6 positions, and a second Rivian record explicitly named Mesa Mall has 2. Treat the mall as one place with more than one network, and confirm the Rivian posts are fast enough for the stop you want. Inside the mall, during mall hours, you get a food court and restrooms. That is the sit-down or counter-service version of a Grand Junction charge. Six Tesla positions is not a huge row for a regional hub. If you land on a Friday evening, have the Sam's Club or the Pilot in your pocket as the other door.

Sam's Club on Independent Avenue
Electrify America · 4 charging positions · 1040 Independent Ave, Grand Junction, CO 81505
Four Electrify America positions at Sam's Club 6360. This is the non-Tesla fast site with a building attached, a short hop from the mall rather than the same front door. Membership is required to shop. Use it when Electrify America is the network you can start and the mall's Tesla or Rivian posts are the wrong plug. Restrooms follow store hours. Independent Avenue is also where a small Rivian listing for a regional office shows up in the catalog; that office is not the meal.

Patterson Road Supercharger
Tesla · 8 charging positions · 2699 Patterson Road, Grand Junction, CO 81506
Eight positions on Patterson Road, north of the mall and the river. This is the other Supercharger, and it is not the food court. The station name does not include a grocery or a restaurant. Charge here when you want the north-side pin or the mall row is busy, then look at the businesses on that lot before you wander off. If nothing is open, the mall and the Pilot are the places that were built for a traveler, and they are a drive, not a walk.

Pilot Travel Center on Highway 6 and 50
EVgo · 4 charging positions · 2195 Hwy 6 And 50, Grand Junction, CO 81505
The catalog calls this Pilot Travel Center 592, an EVgo site with four positions. A travel center is the late, early, and bad-weather stop: food at a counter, a restroom that is more likely to be open when the mall is not, and a lot built for people who are leaving. Four positions is a small row for a truck stop that also serves cars. It is still the right building at 11 p.m. Do not drive to Mesa Mall for a food court that has already closed and then discover the restroom is on the other side of a locked door.

Downtown and Horizon Drive
Downtown Main Street has small ChargePoint posts at the hotels, one or two
positions each. Those are for someone already staying downtown, near the
restaurants on Main. They are not how you recover a low battery after
De Beque canyon. Horizon Drive, the airport and hotel strip, has a Blink
listing in a Starbucks parking lot at 702 Horizon Drive with 4 positions.
A coffee shop lot is a coffee stop. Confirm the Blink posts are not a slow
plug before you plan a short session around them. The fast, predictable
buildings remain the mall, the Sam's Club, and the Pilot.
