I-70 from Denver to Grand Junction: where to eat while you charge
Last updated October 24, 2026
Westbound I-70 is not a corridor where you can leave the charger choice
until the battery light comes on. The reliable meal stops are clumped:
Idaho Springs early, the Silverthorne outlets and Frisco after the tunnel,
then a long mountain run to Edwards and Gypsum, then Glenwood Springs,
then Rifle and Parachute, then Grand Junction. Between those clumps the
catalog does not offer a secret fast charger with a diner. Georgetown, for
example, had none of the Tesla, Electrify America, EVgo, or Rivian sites
in the search used for this page. If you skip Silverthorne because the
outlets look crowded, the next place with the same combination of fast
charging and real food is not five minutes down the road.
Vail Village will tempt you, because that is where the restaurants people
talk about are. The plugs in the village are Tesla Destination chargers at
hotels, which means Level 2. The fast chargers for a through-driver are at
Edwards and at Gypsum. That distinction is the whole
Vail Valley guide.
This page is the order of exits.
How to read this list
Names, addresses, networks, and charging-position counts come from the
EVEats catalog, checked on October 24, 2026. The catalog is built from the
U.S. Department of Energy Alternative Fuels Data Center. A charging
position is the sum of Level 1, Level 2, and DC fast ports reported for
that site, so the number alone does not tell you the plug is fast.
Read the station name. Supercharger means Tesla DC fast
charging. Tesla Destination means Level 2, the kind of
plug you use for a long meal or an overnight stay. Electrify America sites
in these guides are that network's DC fast stations. The catalog does not
show live availability, kilowatts, price, or whether your car can connect
without an adapter. Check the network's own app before you leave the
highway. Store and restaurant hours change, and a restroom inside a
business is only available while that business is open.
As of October 24, 2026, these stops had no approved driver note in EVEats
unless a note is quoted on the page. A specific note about food or a
restroom is more useful to the next driver than another copy of the address.
Denver to the tunnel
Leaving Denver, the Smith Road Walmart and the airport-east Superchargers
are the last big-box stops before the foothills. They are written up in
the Denver guide.
Once you are climbing toward Idaho Springs, do not count on turning around.
Idaho Springs, Miner Street
Tesla · 8 charging positions · 1319 Miner Street, Idaho Springs, CO 80452. Rivian · 10 charging positions · 2325 Miner Street, Idaho Springs, CO 80452
The Supercharger at 1319 Miner Street shares its address with a convenience store, long associated with Kum & Go and, after that chain's sale, possibly wearing a Maverik sign. Packaged food and a restroom are the on-site version of this stop, and only while the store is open. Sit-down restaurants are the rest of Miner Street, which is the town's main commercial row, so a longer stop can be a real meal if you walk. It is not a mall. The Rivian site at 2325 Miner Street lists 10 positions. Confirm in the Rivian app that those posts are DC fast and that your car can use them before you choose that end of the street. Eight Tesla positions in a mountain town can fill up on a Sunday. Ten Rivian positions do not help if you cannot start a session there.

Evergreen's Electrify America site, 4 positions at the Marketplace at
Bergen Park on 1173 Bergen Parkway, is a real grocery-style detour off
I-70, not an exit you fall onto. Use it when you are already on the
Evergreen road. Do not add it to a westbound plan that is trying to make
the tunnel in daylight.
Silverthorne and Frisco
Outlets at Silverthorne
Tesla · 12 charging positions · 246-V Rainbow Dr, Silverthorne, CO 80498
Twelve Supercharger positions at the Outlets at Silverthorne. This is the classic post-tunnel meal, and it is the one stop in these guides with an approved EVEats note. A driver wrote, on September 27, 2026:
Starbucks, Chipotle and Whichwich all right here.👍
That is the amenity: counter food and coffee in the outlet center, plus mall restrooms during center hours. Twelve positions is the row you plan around. A second Supercharger, 8 positions at 101 Ruby Ranch Road, is a different pin. Do not assume the outlets' restaurants are outside that second lot. If you use Ruby Ranch, look at what is actually beside those stalls. The outlets note does not transfer.

Frisco on Summit Boulevard
Tesla · 12 charging positions · 1202 Summit Blvd, Frisco, CO 80443. Electrify America · 4 charging positions · Walmart, 840 Summit Blvd, Frisco, CO 80443
Frisco is the other side of the same retail valley, a few minutes from the outlets. The 12-position Supercharger at 1202 Summit Boulevard is at the AC Hotel. A hotel lobby restroom is not something you should promise a passenger; ask, or walk to a store. The sure grocery and restroom on this street, during store hours, is Walmart 986 at 840 Summit Boulevard, which has 4 Electrify America positions. There is a further Supercharger at 50 Frontage Road with 8 positions. That is a third pin. Use the address you navigated to, not a general memory of Frisco having chargers. The Walmart pin is the one with the store.

Edwards, Gypsum, and Glenwood
Edwards Station
Tesla · 12 charging positions · 434 Edwards Access Road, Edwards, CO 81632. Electrify America · 4 charging positions · 434 Edwards Access Road, Edwards, CO 81632
Both networks use 434 Edwards Access Road. Twelve Tesla positions and four Electrify America positions in the same development, which the travel listings call Edwards Station. This is the fast-charge stop for the Vail Valley. Vail Village itself is hotel Level 2, covered separately. Eat at the businesses on the access road, and do not drive into the village for a sandwich unless you have the time and the battery to come back out. Two networks at one address is the backup plan: if one row is full, the other may be in the same lot, provided your car can use it. The Electrify America pin is the smaller row.

Gypsum, at The Hanger
Tesla · 8 charging positions · 150 Cooley Mesa Rd, Gypsum, CO 81637
Eight Supercharger positions at The Hanger on Cooley Mesa Road, by the Eagle County Regional Airport. This is the highway stop between Edwards and Glenwood, not a village meal. If Edwards was full or the wrong network, Gypsum is the next fast Tesla site, and it is a better place to add energy than any of the destination chargers in Beaver Creek. Look at what The Hanger has open when you arrive. Do not expect Vail Village restaurants.

Glenwood Springs
Tesla · 6 charging positions · 125 Wulfsohn Road, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601. Electrify America · 4 charging positions · Target, 110 W. Meadows Dr, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601
The Supercharger is at the Residence Inn on Wulfsohn Road, six positions. A hotel site can mean a lobby and a restroom that may be intended for guests, so do not build the stop on that assumption. The dependable building is the Target at Glenwood Meadows, 110 West Meadows Drive, four Electrify America positions, with a store restroom and ordinary shopping during retail hours. Six Supercharger stalls is a small row for a town that catches everyone who did not charge in Edwards. Move the car when you have the miles for Rifle. The Target pin is the grocery stop.

Rifle, Parachute, and Grand Junction
Rifle, at the Sonic
Tesla · 12 charging positions · 675 Wapiti Ct, Rifle, CO 81650
Twelve Supercharger positions at the Sonic on Wapiti Court. This is a real food stop of the drive-in kind, and it goes away when the restaurant closes even if the chargers stay up all night. If you are arriving late, eat what you can buy while the window is open, or wait for Grand Junction's Pilot rather than assuming a sit-down room. Twelve positions is one of the more comfortable counts on the western half of this drive. It is still worth a timer. The next site is Parachute, not a continuous strip of plazas.

Parachute, at Grub & Scrub
Tesla · 12 charging positions · 28 Cardinal Way, Parachute, CO 81635
Twelve positions at 28 Cardinal Way, sited with a business called Grub & Scrub. Confirm what that business is serving and whether it is open; the name is the amenity the travel listings attach to the stalls, and a closed counter leaves you with a charger and the highway. Parachute is the last fast Tesla site before Grand Junction in this catalog. If both Rifle and Parachute are somehow unusable, you are making a longer jump into the city, and you should already have used Glenwood.

Grand Junction's mall, Sam's Club, and Pilot are written up in the
Grand Junction guide.
Use the Pilot if you are late. Use Mesa Mall if you are on time and want
a food court. The Patterson Road Supercharger is the north-side fast row
and is not, by its catalog name, a restaurant.
If you are going east instead
The plains side of I-70, toward Kansas, is a different road with a similar
moral. Limon has a Supercharger with 14 positions at 2221 6th Street and
an EVgo site with 4 positions at Flying J, 2495 Williams Avenue. The
Flying J is the travel-center food and restroom. The Supercharger is the
larger fast row. Burlington, farther east, did not return Tesla, Electrify
America, EVgo, or Rivian sites in the radius used for this research. Do
not leave Limon empty on the theory that the state line will have a plaza
you have not checked.
In winter, add time for a cold battery and for stalls that may be plowed
in. Check CDOT before you commit to Glenwood Canyon. A charger on the
other side of a closure is not a charger.
