EVEats Guides US-36 from Denver to Boulder

US-36 from Denver to Boulder

Last updated October 24, 2026

US-36 is a short highway with one job: get you between Denver and Boulder without improvising. The fast stops that include a building are in Superior and at Flatiron Crossing in Broomfield. Boulder itself, once you arrive, splits into the Twenty Ninth Street mall and the much slower plugs downtown. If the battery is the reason you are stopping, stop before Pearl Street. The Boulder guide explains that split. This page is the road in.

How to read this list

Names, addresses, networks, and charging-position counts come from the EVEats catalog, checked on October 24, 2026. The catalog is built from the U.S. Department of Energy Alternative Fuels Data Center. A charging position is the sum of Level 1, Level 2, and DC fast ports reported for that site, so the number alone does not tell you the plug is fast.

Read the station name. Supercharger means Tesla DC fast charging. Tesla Destination means Level 2, the kind of plug you use for a long meal or an overnight stay. Electrify America sites in these guides are that network's DC fast stations. The catalog does not show live availability, kilowatts, price, or whether your car can connect without an adapter. Check the network's own app before you leave the highway. Store and restaurant hours change, and a restroom inside a business is only available while that business is open.

As of October 24, 2026, these stops had no approved driver note in EVEats unless a note is quoted on the page. A specific note about food or a restroom is more useful to the next driver than another copy of the address.

Stops

Superior Marketplace

Tesla · 16 charging positions · 2 South Marshall Road, Superior, CO 80027. Electrify America · 4 charging positions · Target, 400 Marshall Road, Superior, CO 80027

Sixteen Supercharger positions at 2 South Marshall Road, and four Electrify America positions at the Target on 400 Marshall Road. This is the same retail corner, Superior's marketplace, and it is the cleanest stop on the turnpike. The Target is the restroom and the everyday food, during store hours. Sixteen Tesla positions is more capacity than you will find once you are in downtown Boulder. If you are westbound and low, stop here even if Boulder is only fifteen minutes away. Those fifteen minutes end at a mall that can be full, or at a two-plug garage downtown that will not save you. The Target pin is the store.

Flatiron Crossing

Electrify America · 4 charging positions · 1 West Flatiron Crossing Dr, Broomfield, CO 80021. Rivian · 6 charging positions · 1 Flatiron Crossing, Broomfield, CO 80021

Flatiron Crossing is the mall between the Superior exit and Boulder. Electrify America lists four positions at 1 West Flatiron Crossing Drive. Rivian lists six at 1 Flatiron Crossing. The mall has a food court and restrooms during mall hours, which makes this the sit-down version of the US-36 stop, parallel to how Cherry Creek works in Denver. Confirm the Rivian posts are DC fast before you prefer them over the Target in Superior. Four Electrify America stalls at a mall can queue on a Saturday. Sixteen stalls in Superior are the pressure valve, and they are one exit away, not a different trip. The Rivian pin is the other network at the mall.

Lafayette Walmart

Electrify America · 4 charging positions · 745 US Highway 287, Lafayette, CO 80026

Four Electrify America positions at Walmart 1045 on US-287 in Lafayette. This is slightly off the turnpike, on the road people use when they are connecting to Longmont or avoiding US-36 traffic. It is a Supercenter stop: restroom and groceries during store hours, not a mall. Use it when you are already on 287. Do not add it to a direct Denver-Boulder drive when Superior is on the highway you are already on.

Then Boulder

Twenty Ninth Street has the Supercharger at 1710 29th Street (10 positions) and Electrify America at 1776 29th Street (4 positions). That is the first Boulder stop that still behaves like a highway stop. Pearl Street is where you go after the car is no longer the emergency. If both Superior and Flatiron are somehow unusable, Twenty Ninth Street is the next door, and the downtown garages are not the backup.
